I was surprised to find no-one had yet tabbed this and even more surprised that there
seemed to be debate as to how the guitar should be tuned, caused in part no doubt
by the internet interview with Ian Anderson and Martin Barre where they mysteriously
allude to a "hybrid" tuning without actually mentioning what it was, and how it
took MB days to work it out. I love a challenge....I mean, really Ian, why wouldn't
you just tell Martin if you wanted him to play it?
Sounds like plain old DADGAD to me, capo on 3 - all positionings below are
relative to the capo position.
The success of playing this piece revolves around continually changing which notes
in the particular chord to accent - something that I haven't explained in the tab
but which you'll get with practice.
Enjoy - I've tabbed it out in its entirety - bear in mind that there are two guitars
on the recording and only one here - I've also made a few adaptions to fill it out
in places because of this by adding bass notes etc. Twist your balance knob
full right to get the main guitar if you want to hear it on the CD/record.

The next section uses the familiar alt.tuning trick of playing a melody on
a single string whilst strumming strings above and below it in the open position.
The melody string here is the G string, and the D, G, A and d strings are
strummed initially - it only sounds difficult because of the double pulls back to
the open position, another favourite alt.tuning technique.
It then moves down to the bottom (by pitch) strings and does a few other things.
But first there's a very tricky bar which they speed up or shorten ever so slightly...
where the fingers go from the last shape (sliding) to the basic X00200 chord...

I've only put the melody notes after the first bar, by now you should have the feel
of how the strumming goes, relying also on hitting muted strings for rhythmic purposes...
